About the site

As of September 2025, the site is built and deployed by a custom static site generator written in PHP that I have zero plans of releasing… ever.

Computing gear

My “main computer” is a 13” M5 iPad Pro (Space Black, Nano-Texture Display, Wi-Fi + Cellular, 1 TB) with a Magic Keyboard. If I’m at my desk, it’s usually connected to an Apple Studio Display. I also have an M4 Mac mini (16 GB RAM, 256 GB) that I primarily use for Photoshop-related work tasks and a 13” M4 MacBook Air (Midnight, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB) that I don’t use much these days and will likely trade in at some point.

My phone is a Lavender iPhone 17 Sky Blue iPhone Air. Not a whole lot to say here, but I love having an entire tiny computer in my pocket.

Gaming Gear

These days I’m mostly playing on a PlayStation 5 Slim. I use a PlayStation DualSense Edge controller and a PlayStation Pulse Elite headset. I also have a PlayStation Portal that I play in bed or take with me when I’m traveling.

I also have an Xbox Series X, but I’m playing that less frequently lately. When I do play there, I use a Scuf Valor Pro controller and the latest version (Gen 5) of Logitech G’s Astro A50 headset.

Both the PlayStation and Xbox are connected to a not-fancy 50” Hisense TV I picked up on sale for $180 at Walmart after the 50” TCL Roku TV I’d been using for the last 5 or 6 years died.

Last but not least is a Nintendo Switch 2 that I mostly use in bed to play classic NES games or to continue working my way through Donkey Kong Bananza.

Battlefield

Back in December 2018, I switched from playing Battlefield 5 on PlayStation to playing it on Xbox. I had been playing it on PlayStation since its release that November, but none of my friends were playing, so I switched. It wasn’t long before I ran into a guy named oCRAZEYHORSEo, who kept following me and sending me Xbox party invites. I ignored him at first, but after a few days of repeated invites, I finally joined his party.

We played together for a bit, and he invited me to join his Battlefield platoon, ICE. I’ve been a member ever since, and I’m currently 2nd in charge of the platoon, which has grown to over 600 members (and still growing!). Most nights, you’ll find anywhere from 4 to 10 (or more) of us playing together.

If you’re a Battlefield player, come find us and play with one of the best gaming communities out there! My Xbox gamertag is Dr Crankypants, and my PlayStation and EA IDs are the same, but without the space.

Update: We’re now playing Battlefield 6. Come join us! There is cross-play — and it’s on by default — so it doesn’t matter if you’re playing on Xbox, Playstation, or PC.
